Hello! I’m Inertia Sky!

I am a young writer under the pen name ‘Inertia Sky’ and as most people will wonder at one time or another the ‘big question’ why do I write? Well, never fear! I am here to tell you today why I write!

Why do I Write?

I’ve been telling stories for a long time. I first began at camp outs around a campfire. I told them to make people smile and laugh. As I got older, I began writing down my stories, weaving short tales, and even completing novels. But why do I write? Why did I change from telling to writing? I know this will fuel me in the future when I lose my way, so today I’m marking down the reasons why I write.

My first reason for writing is that it brings me joy. I have so much fun making up worlds and creating characters. I love learning about them and watching them grow. It’s amazing what you can do with a little imagination and I enjoy watching mine grow as I write.

Second, I write to understand. Life is hard and confusing. Time and time again I get told something or something happens to me that I just can’t understand. So, I write it down. I put in one of my stories; I ask the question I was asked and then I find the answer. It gives me a different perspective of the questions I’m asking and more often than not I find that answer. It also helps make my world a little less puzzling.

Third, I write for others. I want people who read what I write to have a love for reading and to see that the words you write can make an impact on someone else. I write to show my readers things they can’t see for themselves. There are parts of our world that are broken, but with help, we could be a part of fixing them! I write to show that you do matter and you can make a difference no matter how great the challenge is or how small you feel.

Finally, my very greatest reason, I write for Jesus; to show his love. I may never be a missionary who travels across the ocean, but I can be a missionary from where I was placed; writing stories. When I go to the library and pick out a new book, I often must stop reading it because the things they are teaching in the book don’t line up with the Word of God. That was one of my biggest reasons for starting to write stories; I wanted to change that. I want a believer to be able to pick up one of my stories and see Jesus rooted in every sentence, in every scene, in every chapter and know that there is hope out there. I want it to be a foundation for my stories to rest on. I want a non-believer to be able to pick up one of my stories and read it and rather they know it or not, they will be soaking in the things that Jesus wants them to know. I want to plant a seed; one that will make them long for something else, for something they can’t find in the world. Writing is one of the best ways for me to do that.

I write for joy, I write for understanding, I write for others, and most importantly I write for Jesus. I want to share his love. It’s my foundation and I want it to be there for others. These are my reasons. I hope I will never forget them.
