A Book-Themed Craft!

Has it been a while since we did something crafty? Yes! So let’s change that! Today I am going to tell you how to make a book-themed banner to hang over your bookcase!

Supplies:

1. String (twine works well for this but even thread or yarn will do well!)

2. A favorite book

3. Fabric

4. Items that remind you of your book

5. Scissors

6. (Optional hole punch)

   So, what is a book banner…? A book banner is going to remind you of your favorite book every time you look at it! You will be adding items that remind you of your book and color schemes that fit with the book cover.

   Instructions!

   1. First, look at your favorite book and see the colors and patterns on the cover…Is red and blue a big theme? What about green and yellow? Pull out your fabric and look for those colors!

      (I will choose to do a forest green and brown to match with my book Spinners)

      2. Gather items that remind you of your book! Does your book take place in a forest? Maybe grab some acorn caps! What about a shop with a doorbell? Look for some bells!

      (I chose feathers since my book revolves heavily around feathered birds!)

      3.Take your fabric and cut it into strips or triangles (whichever you prefer) make sure the strips are long! If you choose to make triangles then make sure you leave room to hole punch them at the top!

      4.Take your string and measure it across your bookcase, cut the length then lay it out flat.

      5.Take your strips of fabric and tie them around the string at different places, consider doing a pattern with the colors! If you chose to do triangles simply punch a hole in two corners and thread the string through until all your triangles are on the string!

      6.Add your extra items! Using any leftover string tie your items in-between the strips of fabric to bring your banner to life!

   2. Tie off the ends of your long piece of string and hang your banner!

      There you have it! Something to bring your bookcase to life and show off you favorite story. I hope you had fun creating it and feel free to do it for all your books!
