Short and Sweet Encouragement (20)

Has life been a little hard lately? Are you feeling stressed, behind, cranky, or hungry? Then this is for you! And this is also for you that just needs a little extra boost to keep the energy up! Welcome to my encouraging Saturday posts hosted by Bible verses and worship songs!

The week is long so I’ll keep these short!

Today's verse is found in 1 Peter. Chapter five verses two through three.

“Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you but being examples to the flock.” (NKJV)

What stands out to you the most about that verse? 

If you are a follower of Christ then you have a responsibility to the other believers around you. There will always be some younger than you looking up to you, and someone older than you that you, in turn, look up to. This verse tells us how to be a good shepherd, how to be a good leader. Each of the points it talks about can be hard at times. To serve eagerly? When you keep getting asked the same question a hundred times? Yes! To do it willingly? Not just because someone is asking you, not just because they promised you money in return? Yes! Being an example? Being an example for someone to look up to, for someone no matter their age. Yes. There are so many parts to being a good leader, but following and trusting in God is the most important.
